Latimer: Ida killed at least 1 person in Westchester County, state of emergency declared

Westchester County Executive George Latimer declared a state of emergency in Westchester County and announced at least person in the county has died as a result of Ida.

Westchester County Executive George Latimer declared a state of emergency in Westchester County and announced at least person in the county has died as a result of Ida.
Latimer says a couple got caught in an urban flash flood, got out of their car and were swept away. One person is dead and the other still missing.
He says the county received around 5 to 10 inches of rain. As a rule of thumb, 4 inches of rain affects the county's infrastructure and parkways flood and shut down after 6 inches of rain.
Over 200 cars were stranded across the county. There were multiple disabled vehicles and multiple abandoned vehicles
The Bronx River Parkway, Hutchinson River Parkway, Saw Mill River Parkway and Cross County Parkway were closed in various locations.
Bee-Line buses were rerouted due to closures. 
Shelters were set up Mamaroneck High School and Veteran Town Park in Greenburgh for anyone who had to evacuate.
