Officials in Orange County are questioning federal officials for more information surrounding some flights that carried immigrants to Westchester County Airport.
News 12 has learned that the passengers are minors who were separated from their families while illegally crossing the border.
State Assemblyman Colin Schmitt is raising concerns about passengers allegedly arriving "in secret," in the middle of the night.
"Quite frankly, these individuals should not have ever been brought to Westchester County Airport," says Schmitt. "No county or local officials, law enforcement or health agencies were notified."
Schmitt, who's running for Congress against Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, says the overnight flights carried hundreds of Mexican detainees into the Hudson Valley.
Westchester County Executive George Latimer says the minors were reunited with family in New York City, New Jersey and Connecticut and that they were tested for coronavirus.
An HHS representative says the children are being reunited with relatives and legal sponsors throughout the U.S.
