There are renewed calls to change the name of the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge in the wake of Gov. Andrew Cuomo's sexual harassment scandal.

Two state lawmakers made an announcement Thursday about legislation to restore the name "Tappan Zee" to the bridge.

Assemblyman Mike Lawler, of Pearl River, and Sen. Mike Martucci, who represents the Hudson Valley and the Catskills, held a news conference Thursday morning.

They want the bridge - now named for Andrew Cuomo's father - to go back to its original name.

An online petition for the name change back to the Tappan Zee has already garnered over 170,000 signatures.

Another petition that is gaining traction online would change the name of the bridge to honor fallen firefighter Jared Lloyd, who was killed back in March during a fire that broke out at the Evergreen Court Home for Adults. It had more than 10,000 signatures as of Thursday.
