An attorney accused of witness tampering and bribery says he is innocent and is accusing the Putnam County district attorney of deliberately attacking him.
George Galgano and two others were arrested Thursday. The three allegedly called a woman who accused his client Lami Zaimi of sexual assault. Putnam County District Attorney Adam Levy says the three tried to bribe her to change her testimony and not show up in court. A mistrial was declared in the case back in March.
Galgano, out on $100,000 bail, denied the charges and says Levy knows he did nothing wrong. Galgano claims Levy is targeting him because he was investigating Levy's office.
Levy dismissed Galgano's claim and says he was indicted because he broke the law and the claim was made by the woman and her family.
Galgano is also facing drug charges after police found prescription drugs in his home and office in July.
