? A corporate lawyer-turned-reverend was recently awarded for her work at St. Ann?s Church and with the people of the south Bronx.
"Mother Martha Overall," as she is affectionately known, is the recipient of the Trinity Transformational Fellows award from Trinity Church. Mother Martha also received $20,000 to take a six-week sabbatical to any place in the world. She plans to go to Mexico to improve her Spanish. Mother Martha wants to relate better to the large Latino population she helps at St. Ann?s.
Many of her followers say she?s already done plenty to assist them. Mother Martha runs a food pantry, summer education program and playground. The reverend says she gave up her law career and devoted her life to God after caring for her terminally ill brother.
