Political and law enforcement officials met Wednesday to prepare Rockland County?s public transportation system for a possible terrorist attack.
The public hearing in Garnerville focused on what has been done and what still needs to be done to protect public transportation in the county. Some local politicians believe Rockland is getting shortchanged when it comes to funding for such protection.
Police officials spoke of improving the ability to disrupt potential terrorism through the use of surveillance cameras and bomb sniffing dogs. More hearings are planned on the subject. A report summarizing the results of the hearings will be released at the end of the summer.
