A Hudson Valley restaurant is closing its doors.
Mike Kelly, owner of the Liberty Street Bistro in Newburgh, says the toll of the pandemic made it impossible to recover and stay open.
Kelly says when he opened up shop several years ago, he wanted to bring something special to Newburgh - an area he says he grew up in fear of and a place he and others were told to avoid because of crime.
After working in restaurants in New York City, Kelly later realized Newburgh had so much potential.
Although he is closing Liberty Street Bistro on Nov. 19, Kelly says Newburgh will be his home for a long time
On Facebook, he thanked his customers for coming by and encouraged more people to check out the small businesses in the city.
