Local, state officials commemorate Juneteenth holiday in Yonkers

They held a flag raising ceremony, sang hymns and educated the public about why Juneteenth is so important to the country.

Westchester County legislators, state officials and the Yonkers Juneteenth Committee gathered at Yonkers City Hall Friday to commemorate Juneteenth becoming a holiday.
They held a flag raising ceremony, sang hymns and educated the public about why Juneteenth is so important to the country.
The city of Yonkers African American Heritage Committee also recognized its 2021 Juneteenth Queen & King who will each receive a $1,000 scholarship towards furthering their education.
