News 12's Samantha Crawford spent Valentine's Day morning on McLean Avenue in Yonkers as local businesses were bustling with people shopping for their sweethearts.
"Definitely the busiest day. Especially for people who make chocolate," says Aurea Roman, owner of How Sweet It Is.
Roman, who sells gourmet chocolate, cupcakes and other sweet treats at her shop, says sales triple on Valentine's Day. She says her team has been working around the clock to prepare for the rush. "I start ordering in October/November and then as soon as the first week of January comes, it's preparing, getting the chocolates and boxes. A lot of extra hours, and extra help."

Sales were also buzzing at Blossom Flower Shops, just a block away on McLean Avenue. Owner Sandra McCormack and her team have pulled long days and even longer nights getting every detail perfect. "It started with all the hard goods. We priced all of our bears, got all our shopping bags ready, got all our wrapping ready. Then, when the flowers came, we were getting them ready," says McCormack.
McCormack says everything was ready on time, thanks to others showing love. "We have a smaller staff so we're so grateful to all our friends and family and the extra help that come in to make today special for everybody."
