The man who is accused of fatally stabbing a 14-year-old boy in the Bronx, just days after stabbing another man, faced a judge on Thursday. The judge said that Waldo Mejia will not hear the formal charges against him until the test results come back about whether he is fit to stand trial.
As News 12 has previously reported, the 29-year-old has a history of mental health issues.
Mejia is accused of stabbing a 38-year-old man on Jan, 5, then five days later, killing 14-year-old Caleb Rijos in a random attack as the teen was walking to school. Mejia is being held at Rikers Island and is expected to face a judge again on March 4.
