Police say a man jumped off the Tappan Zee Bridge after being involved in a two-car accident Friday.
Police say 26-year-old Dominick Bifolco, of New Jersey, was driving when he rear-ended a delivery truck at around 3:30 a.m. Bifolco complained he injured his legs. Then, while waiting for an ambulance to arrive, he told police he felt nauseous, walked to the edge of the span and jumped into the Hudson River about 30 minutes after the accident. Marine units from Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow, Piermont, Irvington and Nyack were out searching for Bifolco.
State police are handling the investigation and have taken over the search, which they are now calling a recovery mission.
