Police say the man most seriously injured during a block party in New Windsor earlier this month has died.
The incident happened just before midnight on Sept. 6 on Frank Street as neighbors were cleaning up from what they described as a family-friendly gathering.
Emergency calls initially reported that three men had fallen off the back of a pickup truck. Police, however, have not confirmed how the injuries happened, calling it a “complex case.”
Authorities say the victim’s name and age are not being released at the request of his family. The two other men who were hurt are expected to be OK.
News 12 reached out to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office and the Medical Examiner’s Office for additional information but has not received a response.
Typically, police release the names of victims once family members are notified. Officials can, however, withhold identifying information in sensitive cases or when relatives request privacy — which authorities say is what happened here.
Police are still urging anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
