A Rockland man is in a coma after being beaten at Mateo Communications in Monroe.According to police, on Saturday afternoon at 4:30 a clerk was beaten and robbed inside the money transfer business on Lake Street. The clerk was hit in the head several times with a blunt object. Police believe the victim's name is Jose Juan Morales of Hillburn, but they haven't been able to talk to him yet due to his injuries. The business is currently closed as police search for forensic evidence. Investigators won't say if they think there is more than one suspect, but they are checking surveillance video from nearby businesses to see if it shows any potential suspects. The business owner is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call Monroe police at 492-TIPS.
