Police were called Friday afternoon to investigate a man who had a shotgun in his car while attempting to enter West Point military academy.
Authorities say the man was asked by guards at the gates of the academy if he had a gun, to which he replied that he did.
The Highland Falls Police Department investigated the incident and determined he was not a threat and he was let go shortly after the incident.
Officials say the man, Pierre Antoine, of Poughquag, was apparently there to interview for a civilian job at the academy and forgot that he had a shotgun in his car. Civilians are not allowed to carry guns onto federal installations.
