A Hillburn man who was charged with embezzling from the Ramapo Valley Soccer Club has agreed to pay back some of the funds.
Yan Garcia, 35, was charged with grand larceny by Ramapo police last October.
He has agreed to pay back $50,000, according to the Rockland District Attorney's Office.
Garcia’s lawyers say he was not prosecuted for grand larceny, was not convicted of any crime and “vehemently denies any wrongdoing.”
The Rockland County District Attorney’s Office says charges will be dropped against him if he stays out of trouble for six months.
Editor's Note: An earlier version of this story stated that Mr. Garcia was found guilty of a crime. He was not. Rather, the matter was resolved with an adjournment in contemplation of dismissal. We regret the error.
