Manhattan DA: Gov. Cuomo did not break any laws in COVID-19 nursing home deaths

285ds agoFormer Gov. Andrew Cuomo will not face any criminal charges in Manhattan after the District Attorney's investigation into how Cuomo handled COVID-19 deaths in nursing homes.
A statement from a Cuomo spokesperson says the investigation has been closed and there was no evidence to suggest any laws were broken.
The statement from Elkan Abramowitz, former outside counsel for the Executive Chamber, says, “I was contacted today by the head of the Elder Care Unit from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office who informed me they have closed its investigation involving the Executive Chamber and nursing homes. I was told that after a thorough investigation – as we have said all along – there was no evidence to suggest that any laws were broken.”
Cuomo had come under fire for a policy early in the pandemic that returned nursing home residents to their facilities upon discharge from the hospital, even if they hadn't tested negative and for undercounting nursing home deaths.
