Fireworks are a big part of Fourth of July celebrations, but many Hudson Valley towns are canceling them again this year due to the pandemic.
One of Westchester's most spectacular Fourth of July fireworks shows usually happens at the Kensico Dam in Valhalla, but for the second year in a row it's been called off due to COVID-19.
A county spokesperson says there will likely not be fireworks at the Kenisco Dam or Playland Park on July 3 or July 4 because COVID-19 restrictions were not lifted in time.
News 12 has been told that plans are currently in the works for fireworks show at both places at a later date.
White Plains, Peekskill and Scarsdale have also canceled fireworks displays this year.
Fireworks will light up the night sky over Yonkers on July 4. The city says it is moving forward with plans for a fireworks show from its famous waterfront.
Rockland, Nyack and Clarkstown are just a number of towns expected to put in fireworks shows over the holiday weekend.
The Rockland Boulders will host fireworks shows on July 3 and July 4 at Palisades Union Park in Pomona.
Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus says the county's tradition of a holiday fireworks show a couple of weeks after the Fourth of July will continue this year, but each municipality can go ahead with its own shows on Independence Day.
