The annual Brides' March against domestic violence was held in the Bronx Saturday in remembrance of a woman who was killed 10 years ago.
Participants of the event organized by New York Latinas Against Domestic Violence dressed in bridal gowns in memory of Gladys Ricart, a 39-year-old woman who was fatally shot by her ex-boyfriend, Agustin Garcia, on her wedding day.
Garcia was eventually convicted of the murder and sentenced to 30 years to life.
The organizers of the annual march say the purpose of the event is to honor Ricart and to make sure that what happened to her never happens to anyone again.
