Marist College baseball team seeks to return to field following campus outbreak

The Marist College baseball team has not hit the field this year because of its COVID-19 protocols.

While many college athletes are slowly returning to the field, baseball players at one Hudson Valley college are sounding off about their season spent in the dugout.
The Marist College baseball team has not hit the field this year because of its COVID-19 protocols.
 

When an outbreak hit campus at the start of the spring semester, the 170+ active cases moved classes virtual and shut down everything, including all of the college's athletics.

In-person classes resumed this week, and the baseball team wants their game to return, too.
All of them tested negative the last few weeks and most have equipped themselves with one COVID-19 vaccine dose. 

Geoffrey Brackett, executive vice president of Marist College, says they are monitoring numbers.
 

"By the end of the week, we should have data that would allow us to understand the best next move...It could happen as soon as this week and we hope that's the case. But we're always going to do the right thing in terms of public health for the college and the community," he says.
