While this school year is winding down, parents are being urged to make a decision on their children's plans for the fall. 

Mayor Bill de Blasio kicked off a pre-kindergarten "Day of Action" to get the word out about universal pre-K options in hopes of getting as many young scholars as possible signed up before June 26, the last day of school. 

Fliers are making their way around the five boroughs with everything parents need to know about pre-K. Volunteers are canvassing neighborhoods to spread the word about all the available education options, and will also be reaching out to people by phone. 

Chancellor Carmen Farina says the pre-K initiative is going to frame the future of education in New York City. She reminded parents that it's not a baby-sitting service, but a crucial step in preparing kids for kindergarten and the years that follow. 

All children who turn 4 years old in 2014 are eligible for free pre-K at public schools and community-based early childhood center.
