If the Bridgeport Islanders are leaving the Park City, Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim said Saturday the minor-league professional ice hockey team "belongs in the penalty box."

"This is very concerning and disrespectful to the city of Bridgeport. We need the Islanders to step up. If they want to continue in Bridgeport, we want to work with them. If they're doing something different, they have to honest with the fans and the people of the City of Bridgeport, and the damage they'll do if they do leave is financial -- and we're not just going to let that go," Ganim told News 12.

Ganim said multiple sources claim the New York Islanders plan to move their AHL-affiliate to Hamilton, Ontario -- despite the team's 10-year lease in Bridgeport through 2031.

The team had not responded to a request for comment as of Saturday night.
