A new school, library and new parks are being planned for Yonkers.
Mayor Mike Spano gave his State of the City address Thursday night, saying Yonkers has accomplished a lot and become a model for other cities.
He says the next job now is to stay on the path of renewal and to reimagine the city.
Here's some of what he plans next:
-Cameras installed on all 400 school buses to hold drivers accountable who illegally pass the bus
-A new pre-K-8 school at the vacant city-owned property near Ashburton Avenue, with doors expected to open for the 2026 school year.
-Strengthened affordable housing requirements. The mayor says this year, the city is on the way to approving 650 new low market rate units.
-This spring, Mayor Spano says police will open a Motorola Aware room - the first in New York.
It will use surveillance cameras, a drone and computer information systems to monitor crime in real time.
