In comparison to adults, kids rarely got sick from COVID-19, and weren’t considered nearly as infectious.
That's now changing because of the UK variant.

Dr. Michael Osterholm, a member of President Biden’s COVID-19 Advisory Board, says several hundred schools in Minnesota have reported cases of the UK variant - and they're seeing record amounts of kids in the hospital.
Some doctors say people may also have to consider bringing some restrictions back in areas that are seeing surges.
News 12 spoke to parents in the Hudson Valley about this. Some who already have their students learning 100% remotely say they will continue to do so, while others say this will not affect their decision to send their children back full time if they can.
There were also mixed feelings about whether these concerns would push them to vaccinate their kids if or when a vaccine is approved for young people.
