The attorneys for accused killer Michael Mele say they plan to file a motion with the state appellate division to get his trial moved out of Orange County.
Mele, a convicted sex offender from Wallkill, has been charged with murder, manslaughter and tampering with evidence in connection to the death of Laura Garza.
Lawyers say Mele won't be able to get a fair trial locally because of the media attention his case has received.
The Orange County district attorney plans to fight the motion.
