Mercy University's school of nursing was awarded $20,000 to address racism in nursing.
Mercy was one of 10 winning proposals selected from more than 130 submissions to receive funding from the American Nurses Association.
A national survey of more than 5,600 nurses conducted by the commission shows that racism is a problem within the profession.
University officials say the grant will enable Mercy to develop programming that facilitates the transition of nurse educators into the role of health equity influencers.
