Restoration work will begin soon at the historic Merestead property in Westchester County.
Merestead features a 28-room Georgian mansion, with gardens dating back to the early 20th century.
An amended bond act was signed into law Wednesday, lifting commercial restrictions and releasing money from a trust to renovate the property.
This comes after a state Supreme Court judge lifted longstanding usage restrictions in April.
Westchester County took over the deed to the130-acre estate, renowned for its country mansion and esteemed artwork in 2000.
Now, the county can use the money to manage more of the parkland encompassing Merestead and transform it into a cultural and recreational hub.
The bond money will pay for the cost of additional designs, construction and administration services for restore the farmhouse.
