Hudson Valley voters cast their ballots this week for school budget plans, largely voting in favor of all of the proposals with the exception of very few.

Voters defeated an $83 million budget plan in Minisink. The Minisink spending plan, which called for dozens of layoffs including eliminating more than 30 teaching and counseling positions, has caused controversy in the community for weeks.

Christopher D'angelo, the head of the teachers union, says the group wants to see a re-vote on a revised budget that increases taxes to save some of the teachers and aides' jobs.
