A Missouri man and his sons had the opportunity to thank Sikorsky officials Thursday after the company's Black Hawk helicopters rescued the boys and a group of campers.
When the campers became stuck in floodwaters and stranded in July, the Missouri National Guard responded with four Black Hawk helicopters. Those helicopters were made by Sikorsky.
Nearly 150 children and 50 adults were safely evacuated.
Evan Waldman and his sons visited the Sikorsky facility on Thursday. The trio met employees and toured the facility. The 11-year-old and 13-year-old boys also shared their experience of being rescued.
Waldman happens to be the CEO of Sikorsky supplier Essex Industries. Sikorsky officials say Essex Industries is a longtime supplier of theirs and a supporter of the Black Hawk program.
