A manicurist from Monroe is accused of stealing the diamond out of her customer?s engagement ring.
Police say it happened on November 19 at Alexandra's Nail Design. The customer apparently took off her ring to get her nails done and left the room to go wash her hands. When the woman returned she noticed that the diamond in her ring was missing. Police say the manicurist, 23-year-old Lisa Libardi, helped the woman search for the missing diamond. The customer trusted her so much that it wasn't until her jeweler told her the diamond hadn't fallen out but was intentionally removed that she notified police. Investigators say Libardi admitted the crime and was subsequently charged. Police say Libardi sold the one carat diamond, which is worth $7,000 to a pawn broker in New Jersey for $1,500. It cannot be recovered. Libardi has been fired from the salon. She now faces felony charges, but has been released on $250,000 bail.
