The Monroe-Woodbury community is preparing to say goodbye to a beloved teacher who died from a brain tumor.
Sue Giza, 52, died late last month.
The Monroe-Woodbury 10th grade math teacher, who was from Wurstboro, is being laid to rest Saturday in Pine Island.
Giza volunteered to donate tissue for brain research at NYU, where she was a patient.
Her husband says she was happy to know her struggle may eventually help someone else.
Instead of flowers, her family is asking for donations to the Children’s Tumor Foundation.
