A dog seen in a now viral video of animal abuse is in the care of the Yonkers Animal Shelter.
When you first meet Maximus, you'll see right away, he's a dog with a lot of energy.
The 8 month-old pit bull puppy is getting a lot of attention these days at his new temporary home at the Yonkers Animal Shelter.
As News 12 reported, Wednesday morning a good Samaritan filmed a man throwing Maximus into a store front in Yonkers.

The video caught the attention of Yonkers Police and the SPCA of Westchester Humane Law Enforcement.
Both agencies jumped into action and arrested Anthoin McPherson who is now facing a misdemeanor charge.

News 12 learned that Max was inside a crate when he was rescued and that investigators uncovered another disturbing video showing the abuse happened more than once.
Calls have been flooding into the Yonkers Animal Shelter since Maximus was rescued, callers asking to adopt the pit bull puppy.
He will be up for adoption after he clears medical and observation protocols.
Officials hope his story may encourage people to consider adopting other animals in the shelter, which has about 40 dogs currently.
"This is like a catalyst for other folks to come to the shelter and see the other dogs here, that we take good care of but we want to make sure they move on to their new homes," Steve Sansone, Commissioner, Yonkers Department of Parks & Recreation.
McPherson has been released with an Appearance Ticket awaiting arraignment at a later date.
