(05/03/06) ATLANTA, GA ? The Morris High School robotics team experienced a roller coaster of emotions at the Robotics Championships in Atlanta, Georgia.
The team found themselves up against some stiff competition in the first round of competition. After losing the first match, the team managed to come up with a new game plan and eventually finish sixth out of 86 teams in their division. The finish allowed them to advance to the quarterfinals.
Despite a strong effort in the quarterfinals, technical gremlins reared their ugly heads during the competition. Participants say their robot stopped communicating with its controllers during the match, eventually sending the team to a defeat. Although the team didn?t win any trophies, members say they got a good look at the competition in preparation for next year.
