As the back-to-school season approaches, Elim Church of God in Mount Vernon is lending a helping hand to local students in need.
The church hosted its annual 'Back to School Jam' this weekend, providing a fun-filled event for kids to enjoy games, face painting, and a bounce house.
Not only did the kids have the chance to play, they also had an opportunity to receive essential school supplies. Marcia Pennicott of Elim Church of God explained, "We're catering for parents who are less fortunate than others. There's always someone out there that is struggling. We're offering bookbags, pens/pencils, composition books, whatever we can find to offer."
Parents in attendance expressed their gratitude for the event, saying it helps alleviate some of the stress associated with back-to-school preparations.
