Candidates running for Mount Vernon mayor held “get out the vote” rallies ahead of primary day.

Incumbent Democratic Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard and Democratic opponent Andre Wallace both spoke to voters.

Patterson-Howard says he wants to continue expanding economic development, rebuilding the city's fund balance and fighting for a hospital.

Wallace says he will focus on improving opportunities for the middle class, lowering property taxes and increasing youth and senior programs.
