The top grade-getter at one Mount Vernon High School is making history.
This year's valedictorian at the Mount Vernon STEAM Academy is the first woman of color to get a full ride to Harvard University in the district's history.
Maame Forson is one of the brightest to ever come through the Mount Vernon school system, and her resume is already impressive.
She has a 4.1 GPA and is involved in the National Honor Society, student government and the Superintendent's Advisory Council.
She plans to major in neuroscience with a minor in African American Studies, with a dream of becoming an OB-GYN or pediatrician.
If a full ride to Harvard isn't impressive enough, she also received six others to colleges she turned down, including Johns Hopkins, Duke and Notre Dame.
