MTA police: 52-year-old man detained on Metro-North for having weapon in Yonkers

MTA police say a 52-year-old man was detained on Thursday for having a weapon on him on the Metro-North.
They say they received reports of an armed rider at around 1:15 p.m. The man was on the 11:45 a.m. Hudson line train that originated in Poughkeepsie.
Officers met the train at Yonkers station, an unscheduled stop that delayed the rain for 22 minutes.
They found the man who they immediately removed from the train and detained.
A hunting knife that was more than 4 inches in the man's backpack, according to police. He was issued a summons for possession of a weapon on the railroad.
The preliminary investigation finds the man did not have an apparent intention to use the weapon.
