The NYPD has reported some grim news; the number of murders in the Bronx and the rest of the city is on the rise.Compared to 2005, police say there have been 22 more murders in the borough. The overall murder increase is almost 10 percent, but police say it may not be as disturbing as it seems. They say there has been a large number of reclassified homicides, cases where victims were wounded in previous years but died in 2006. There have been 35 reclassified homicides this year, almost three times the annual average.Police say they believe gangs, drugs and the availability of illegal guns are to blame for the increase in murders.
