New 911 call released from fatal lightning strike at Jackson Township archery range

The incident occurred on the evening of July 16. One person died and 14 others were injured, including children as young as 7 years old.

News 12 has obtained new 911 audio from Jackson Township police that gives new insight into the dramatic moments following a fatal lightning strike this summer at the Black Knights Bowbenders range.

The incident occurred on the evening of July 16. One person died and 14 others were injured, including children as young as 7 years old.

Multiple emergency calls were made.

At the time, members of Cub Scout Jackson Troop 204 were being coached.

Robert Montgomery, 61, died.

According to the Bowbenders, he was doing what he loved most - enjoying archery and coaching the young group.

Injuries ranged from burns to general pain and discomfort. One victim was taken to a burn center for treatment.

Police said the lightning strike occurred as storms moved through the area.
