New census shows the face of the Bronx, city is changing
New census figures show the face of the Bronx and city is changing with a shift in where various ethnic communities are choosing to live.
This year?s Census Bureau American Community Survey found that 60 percent of city residents are immigrants or have immigrant parents. The survey also found that nearly a half million new immigrants have poured into the city since 2000. However, according to the survey, more immigrants are settling down in the suburbs.
The U.S. Census Bureau conducts these surveys every year. They are a shorter version of the long questionnaire that everyone is asked to fill out once every decade.
