A New City couple accused of killing a relative faced a judge on Thursday.
Constantinos Doonan, 31, and Jo-Ann Haughley, 26, were next to each other in orange jumpsuits for the proceeding in front of Judge Larry Schwartz.
They face second-degree murder and burglary charges for allegedly killing 85-year-old Constantinos Mastakouris last January.
Mastakouris, who was also Doonan's grandfather, was the homeowner where the couple resided on Ruth Drive. Authorities discovered Mastakouris' decomposing body in March, prompting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his demise.
According to police reports, Doonan and Haughley are accused of wrapping and concealing the elderly man's body in a basement crawl space within the residence.
If convicted, the couple could potentially face a sentence ranging from 25 years to life in prison.
