If you fly on a regular basis, it's likely you've witnessed unruly or rude behavior from other passengers.

In fact, according to the Federal Aviation Administration, they've seen a 400% increase of in-flight outbursts ranging from disruptive behavior to outright violence since 2019.

That's why U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy says this is the perfect time to launch a new civility campaign titled "The golden age of travel starts with you." The campaign is intended to help stop unruly behavior at the airports and on flights.

Transportation officials are suggesting simple changes such as saying please and thank you to airport staff and flight attendants, keeping children in check, helping a struggling fellow passenger get luggage into an overhead compartment, even dressing more appropriately when flying. Secretary Duffy says,

"Maybe dressing with some respect, you know, whether it's a pair of jeans and a decent shirt, I would encourage people to maybe dress a little better, which encourage encourages us to maybe behave a little better. Let's try not to wear slippers and and and pajamas as we come to the airport. I think that's positive."
