New diaper tax exemption doesn’t stink
Starting Thursday, you won't have to pay state and local sales taxes for all diapers anywhere in New York state.

there's some help coming to your wallets very soon- just in time for the
holiday shopping season.
Starting Thursday, you won't have to pay state and local sales taxes for all
diapers anywhere in New York state.
The 'Diaper Act,' sponsored by Yonkers Assemblyman Nader Sayegh (D),
passed unanimously and is expected to save New Yorkers about $7 million to $10 million
a year. “A third of mothers with infants were really struggling financially
with the pandemic and inflation. I started to look into it, and started to
realize that really it's an unfair burden,” says Sayegh.
According to the National Diaper Bank Network, the average family spends just
under a $1,000 per year.
The legislation also extends to older adults who may need it.
