Thursday marked the sweet beginning of a new French pastry bakery in Hastings-on-Hudson.

Arome held a soft grand opening ceremony on Main Street.

The bakery offers an array of deserts that include macaroons, gelato, and special cakes.

Owner Vera Gjelaj said it has been her dream to open her own pastry shop.

"It feels wonderful. Everybody, as you see it, is so happy, is so excited. It took us about two years to open with all the permits and construction and everything, but finally, we're open and it looks like everyone is enjoying it," she said.

The official grand opening ceremony for Arome will be on Saturday.
