A grant from the Department of Homeland Security helped fund a new state-of-the-art patrol unit for the New Rochelle Police Department.
The 33-foot boat has three outboard engines, which makes it more powerful and faster than the older two engine boats the unit owns.
Michael Dassler, from the New Rochelle Police Department, described how the Skyhook feature helps in rescue and recovery efforts.
“It has Skyhook, which is something that will keep us in a specific location,” says Dassler. “Won’t let us drift or move too much in one direction.”
The new boat helped the unit to locate the body of missing kayaker Laurence Broderick.
