Monday morning will mark the opening of the new Department of Motor Vehicles office in White Plains.
A great deal of residents said they were inconvenienced when the DMV closed its offices in the White Plains Mall last March.
The new location will open at the shopping center on Maple Avenue, known as The Source at White Plains, which is home to the Cheesecake Factory, Whole Foods Market and other nationally known store brands.
Although initially scheduled to open in the fall of last year, what is being described as a new modern DMV office will finally open its doors.
To help customers deal with the transition after the demolition of DMV's former home, the White Plains Mall, a short-term temporary office opened in Tarrytown while the new location was being built.
That Tarrytown office closed on Friday.
Expanded accommodations were also offered in Yonkers.
The demolition made way for the new development, which includes rental apartments being built at the former spot.
State officials also promised a more modern office at The Source.
The new DMV office will be open Mondays through Fridays, from 7:30 a.m. to 5p.m.
