A man has been charged with murder in connection with a deadly shooting in New Windsor, according to police.
Authorities say 47-year-old Thomas Crews is charged with second-degree murder in the death of 57-year-old Larome A. Johnson, of New Windsor.
Police say officers responded just before 9 a.m. Wednesday to Hawthorne Way for reports of shots fired. When they arrived, they found Johnson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Officers and EMS attempted lifesaving measures before Johnson was transported to Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police say Crews was arrested at the scene. He was later arraigned at his hospital bedside while being treated for a possible heart attack and is being held without bail.
Authorities say the shooting happened inside The Grove townhouse complex and stemmed from a long-running dispute between neighbors.

New Windsor police also confirm they were called to the residences once before for a neighbor dispute about three years ago, but have not said what either incident was about.
As the community mourns, loved ones are remembering Johnson for the life he lived.
A GoFundMe created to support his family describes him as "a retired, well-respected correction officer" and "a loving husband, father, son, brother, and amazing friend to all who knew and loved him."
The fundraiser says Johnson "touched many lives through his service and kindness," and that his death has left his family "heartbroken and searching for comfort" as they cope with the loss.
The GoFundMe, created to help cover funeral and related expenses, has already raised thousands of dollars.
