The department has recently investigated several residential burglaries believed to be committed by these groups, which are often comprised of people from South America who travel to the U.S.
The groups usually target homes in residential neighborhoods when people are not at home, looking for jewelry, designer items, and cash.
Police advise residents to consider getting an alarm system, surveillance cameras, and not to post on social media when going away on vacation.
