A safer city for bicyclists will be created over the next three years to help reduce the number of bike related accidents.
The New York City Department of transportation says it plans add an additional 200 miles of bike paths in the Bronx to create more space for bikers to ride. It says it will also start a public outreach campaign teaching bikers their rights on the road.
The city reminds bikers along with these improvements, previous bike safety precautions must be followed as well. It said every biker who died in the city was not wearing a helmet.
