New York state is paying tribute to fallen police officers with a solemn ceremony at the Police Officers Memorial, located near the State Capitol in Albany.

In a touching display of remembrance, the names of 68 fallen police officers have been recently etched into the memorial walls, joining nearly 2,000 others.

Gov. Kathy Hochul expressed her gratitude and respect for the sacrifice of these officers, stating, "You are appreciated. You are respected, and we honor your service day in and day out because this is what you are willing to do."

The memorial serves as a poignant reminder of the bravery and dedication exhibited by law enforcement personnel across the state. Situated in the heart of Albany, it stands as a lasting tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Additionally, in a gesture of solidarity and recognition, the Mario Cuomo Bridge was illuminated in blue last night to commemorate Police Memorial Day.
