A police sting Thursday designed to catch massage parlors engaged in prostitution nabbed six women for allegedly practicing without a license in Newburgh.
None of the undercover officers were offered sexual favors in the sting, but police hope the arrests they made will close the doors on future prostitution problems.
?The people that are licensed have had years of training, and have spent thousands and thousands of dollars for that training,? said Lt. Michael Clancy of the Newburgh Police Department. ?And you get other people that come in there with no training at all, putting their hands on customers.?
The women arrested worked at four area spas where police have suspicions of prostitution. The women were sent to the Orange County Jail on $5,000 bail each.
